Ask a 9th grade student about his/her future plans and what you get as an answer may not be too far from conventional. The typical stereotypes are : “ I am planning to pursue my Bcom. & CA simultaneously” or “I am going to be a software engineer/Mtech Engg./MCA/Doctor ” or perhaps in mass communication. An amusing fact in such answers is the novice is usually not even aware of the level of skill and type of expertise required in such profiles of careers. All they know is “it sounds good and has good money”. In our country we hardly find students who know what they are heading for, what interests them, what they can excel at so that they choose the right path for themselves. And on top of it all we have the parental stigma’s associated with every child that binds him in the conventional yards. These being the most commonly known mishaps are yet not understood the way they are ought to be. It seems as though everyone has given up their strings in the hands of money and its kins. And even after that people fail to achieve success in what they pursue. What they miss is, that there are bound to be many failures for a handful of achievers. The answer is simple mathematics or you may call it logic. How on earth, with this milling population does one expect to succeed in the most conventional fields of work and that too just with a degree and no interest?
It’s a matter of choice. People work so hard to get things which do not suit them because they are delusional, so much so that they try to suit to the job instead of looking at it the other way. I donot understand that why is so difficult to mould children in such a way that they become strong individuals rather than a flock of sheep that go with the flow. If the foundations are strong enough they would grow up to be independent individuals who are far sighted and have a broad vision of the course to their futures instead of becoming just another brick in the wall. Let me elucidate by exemplifying the different levels of choices in a student’s life and the obvious results.
The major choice starts from 10th grade in our country where in a student can choose his preferred language. Suppose the general choices are Hindi / Sanskrit. What is the majority choice? - Sanskrit. Why? –Because it’s a scoring subject as one just has to mug up some things. Hindi seems to be risky. The next level is the 11th grade where one chooses his/her major that is Science or Commerce. Well those who are weak in science and can’t bear it go for commerce and not because they find commerce interesting , while those who find that science can make them look smart and earn them good money go for science and usually not because they have a thirst for innovation. The funny part here is that many forget the fields like arts , literature, home science , psychology etc. And why do they pretend to forget these? Merely because these are looked down on, by the society. The best or the worst choices are made at this level. There are students who drag themselves into science and become a part of the endless struggle for IIT’s and NIT’s while there are those who comfortably do their Bcom. and then probably prepare for CA or MBa. But was this choice what they really craved for? Does this choice include all their interests and skills? Will this choice keep them happy and without regrets in future? A definite answer is “NO”. I can say so because as far as I have observed, every person has a thresh-hold beyond which he/she cannot just drag himself into something and that’s what makes them regret their choice later on. What today’s youth is forgetting is that there are yet many unearthed and innovative fields lying around the globe to be dug up and shone. Youngsters not only overlook their hearts desires and minds interests but also the various paths that lead towards them. A person having interest in economics can very well pursue Economic Honors even after being a science student. But that never occurs to him as he is busy fighting for seats in the n-number of engineering institutes. The results are very obvious : stress , depression , suicides or just an unhappy life. The other side of result shows us decreased skills, fewer innovations and even fewer initiatives like social entrepreneurship.
If only the student had been given the freedom to choose his favorites language at the 10th grade…..If only he could go into animation course after 12th grade and if only he/she had the courage to be the speaker/writer he/she always wanted to be…. Our country could a diverse in industries as well as it is in demographics. The problem is always us , because we let the system stay as it is and never be the YUVA we are supposed to be in order to bring a change for good. May be that’s the difference between the youth who fought for independence and us – who cannot even stand for our own choice. All we do is blindly walk on the delusional path to future thinking that everything will be perfect. But wham! There it is…smiling at our faces when we regret our choices and repent all lifelong.
So, what’s your choice?
“To be the change or just another brick in the wall?”

If I were to be todays Gandhi....how would my gandhigiri be....Here comes a succint description of that....
Leadership in my eyes is not merely a synonym for control. It is about instilling the power of expression in each person who looks up to me as his/her leader. The kind of leadership I portray is like a building with certain basic foundations which make it strong enough to withstand tornadoes. A visualization of my leadership qualities is depicted below.

I have always cherished to take charge of a group of people and guide them in any endeavor. There have been many instances where I have been strong enough to take up a responsibility and fulfill its purpose with complete dedication. I believe leadership comes with a lot of power and even greater responsibilities. I have been the head co-coordinator of a technical event in College tech-fest and during that period I realized that as a leader I had the patience to run around in order to get work done on time even when my sub-ordinates seemed to be faltering at times. I am a punctual person when it comes to meeting deadlines and no matter what, I don’t entertain unpunctuality as I myself do not deviate from it. Moreover, with the event organizing experience I came across my ability to work as part of a team even after being the leader. Appreciating the work of my sub-ordinates and letting them come up with their ideas worked out to be a benefit for my team.
Giving responsibility to my assistants is a little tough job as it requires me to take a risk which may have exceptionally bad or good results. But that is the charm of leadership for me. Believing in my co-workers and letting them evolve without any bounds is what I perceive to portray a healthy relation between me and the team.
Befitting the picture is an important aspect when it comes to leading people at technical projects. Guiding and helping my sub-ordinates is my way of making them feel that I am there to take responsibility when they falter and yet I will not encourage disregard towards work and my orders.
As a leader, I feel that it is very important to do my “homework” just as a professor is supposed to do before he comes to lecture. I always make sure that I maintain a difference between my personal agonies and my professional duties and I expect similar from my sub-ordinates.
I have a knack to convince people in a way that they trust me and gain from my influence. My key to gain trust is “I practice what I preach”. I am quite an honest person and I never tend to be biased when it comes to judge between a person whom I personally appreciate and another whom I dislike, because when it comes to professional issues, I only see their capabilities and results.
My influence on my technical community is positive when the community comprises of professionals who do not take my stand on decisions personally and do not loathe my being superior to them. I try my best to maintain harmonious relations with those I work with but I don’t compromise my dignity and the position I am on. If I am leader, I must have some additional qualities than the others or just the courage and a little dominance to be ready to lead whenever asked to.
I picture myself as a crucial part of the picture which my co-workers combine to create.

My Fair Lady....SHE!!
Vote for me now!
Blogomania 2010 sponsored by Odyssey360 | The 24 hour online book store with 5 milion books to choose from.
"She may be the face I can't forget...
The trace of pleasure or regret..
May be my treasure or the price I have to pay..
She may be the song the summer sings..
May be the chill the autumn brings..
May be a hundred different things...
Within the measure of the day...
She may be the mirror of my dream...
The smile reflected in a stream..
She may not be what she may seem...
Inside her shell...
She, who always seems so happy in a crowd...
Whose eyes can be so private and so proud...
No one's allowed to see them when they cry!
She may be the love that cannot hope to last..
May come to me from shadows of the past..
That I'll remember till the day I die !
She may be the reason I survive...
The why and wherefore I'm alive..
The one I'll care for through the rough and ready years..
Me, I'll take her laughter and her tears..
And make them all my souvenirs..
For where she goes, I've got to be...
The meaning of my life is...she!!"
You must be thinking, WHO IS SHE??And I am sure some might also have the "L" thought
in their rusty brains...But thats not the case here...coz SHE is MY FAIR LADY...
MY ARCHANGEL...MY ORIGIN....MY MOMA....
Yes..the SHE I chose to write about is my beautiful goddess..My mother...
I just was yearning to write this as soon as I saw the topic "SHE"...
I have so much to say...I don't know how to put all of it in nothing but words!!!
The aforementioned dedication truly comes from the abysmal depths of my heart for my cute chubby moma....I love her from all possible angles....be it as a daughter,a girl,a friend ,a die hard fan and even as a life partner...(chuckles)!
She is a remarkably wonderful and powerful woman! She is lady who has the rarest combination of Love, kindness, intelligence and smartness!!
I may have hundreds of things wrong in my life...but the one asset which I have ,who
sets it all right is My moti Maa(as I call her)...She is like a complete and perfect
lady...I can't help noticing that fact....She is not the best mom one could ever imagine...but one of the best human beings on earth....
She is the reason...for me to be proud...to be always happy....and also to be sad...
when I am not near her.....I don't know...if she is just natural or Supernatural...
because there are times when her just being near me ...makes me well in all aspects..
be it physical or mental....I mean...shez like a beautiful angel who is in human disguise....
How do I describe her awesomeness...I just dont have a clue...yet I will go on...coz I just cannot stop....
I know....every mom loves their kids and does everything possible for them....
Yet I feel that there is too much more to my fair lady....She is a woman of Substance.....I could never have a better idol to look up to.....
Looking up to her...I feel diminutive....being her daughter is the greatest honour that could be bestowed upon me....I say this because I find her excellent in all the things she does.....and not once does she complain about the miseries of her life..
Since I was born...she not only did what she could possibly do...but went out of her way to polish my childhood....She did all what it needed to make her children's lives
comfortable and happy in all possible situations....
She doesnt even stop today....Nothing can tire her if she wants to do something for
me and my lil bro....
She started working 10 years ago....and today I can proudly say that my MOTHER is excellent at Management and Finance..even without a degree...She has won so many
trophies and sashes and perks that neither of her children have, till date...
The fantastic part is...that she has been a winner since birth....She was a brilliant
student...academically....and yet a national tennis player....and yet again she was
very artistic....Today she has conquered the other part of the "kingdom of skills"..
Basically....she just knows a hell lot of things..and that too so perfectly...
Ofcourse...she was'nt born lucky...but she just rubbed her coin so hard...that it has
turned to a diamond now...
I have observed many parents...there are varieties like...
Hitlers,Coconutty,Frank but abide by laws, friendly but upto one particular limit.
My mom does'nt belong to any of these....she has her own category...and I have'nt yet
seen anyone else on that list...She is parent who inspite of having achieved great heights in personal and professional life...,does'nt put her children under the burden of that...Ofcourse she expects from her kiddos...but her expectations donot
overpower her thought of making her kids happy whatever may happen....
She has been the greatest supporter ever ,at all the times I lose or donot get the rewards I deserve...Even till date....when I am about to transform to be a woman...she still supports me the same way....by sayin "YOU ARE A WINNER IN MY EYES,COZ I KNOW YOU WORKED HARD AND DESERVED IT MORE THAN ANYONE else".....
AT times when I am stressed...she just tells me to chuck away all my tensions and
enjoy life....to hell with jobs and money....
I draw all my strength from her.....Man!!she is one big Power House!!
She has been an outstanding mentor, parent and friend. And she plays all her parts extremely well....I gape even at the thought of it!!!
Since my childhood..she has made me an independent girl...
She is a mother...and has her insecurities...but still she never let them come in my way of evolution...She let me choose between right and wrong....She let me take risks...and made me bold and brave enough to survive the tough world out there....
She let me waver sometimes ...but never let me FALL!!!And even though it was my fault..she never blamed me...and never tried to teach me lesson...as a result of what
I became so sincere and righteous...
She never pushes me for anything.....and believes in me more than I do.....
One of her many specialties is that she never intrudes in other people's lives and never let them intrude in her children's....
She is a monument of SELFLESSNESS!!She has always fulfilled all my wants and needs..
even without my asking for them...and I hope you people donot get deluded ...so let me tell you...she is not filthy rich at money....but She is the richest when it comes
to heart....
She is a compassionate person...who cares so much for all who need it...that she does'nt even see if the person deserves it or not............My archangel yet marvels at smartness......She has learned a lot of lessons from life...but even at the age equal to Shahrukh Khan's....she does'nt give up..nor does she fret...
I love her attitude towards life...."Never crib just eat, work, sleep healthy and Live!"
She has seen all kinds of evil....yet all she has learned is being "A good smart person".Things have to change their routes to influence her...and yet she is the first to influence them...and convince them!!
Every "SHE" has a fantasy to be free and if not that..atleast provide her daughter with all those things she could'nt have!!......It's a simple thought to dream about..
but MY FAIR LADY has made this dream a reality....
I love her like she resides in me....And I just owe every good thing of my life to her....
This one's for You moma...
LOVE YOU MY DARLING CHUBBY CHEEKS!!!
PS: I thing this post will keep growing till my life span!

The Dragon And The Elephant!!!
Vote for me now! Blogomania 2010 sponsored by Odyssey360 | The 24 hour online book store with 5 milion books to choose from

What creeps in your mind when you see this kind of a title??
There can be thousands of different answers to this one...so let me start with mine..
When I first saw the mention of these two creature together...the thought that crept in my mind is "Ek taraf kua ek taraf khai" i.e. "On one side is a well and on the other is a crater!!"... In one word you could call it 'dilemma'....
But of course its the nature of man to dig deep in such intriguing things & so did I.
To start with..I will first describe the characteristics of both and then map them
to my reflection of the two!!
Elephant being my favorite animal (for weird reasons though) I thought why not start with the same..The elephant is a truly amazing creature. It is an animal that has been respected, revered, even worshipped, in many of the world's cultures for thousands of years. While the Western world has been obsessed with the power symbol of the lion, the East has long held the elephant as their supreme animal icon.
Elephants are the epitome of sustainability, adaptation is the key!!These Jumbos are not predators. They are complete vegetarians living from the land, not off their fellow-creatures. They have no natural enemies other than humans and are seldom seen in violent encounters with other species. As a rule, the elephant's relationship to other species and Nature is highly cooperative and symbiotic. For example, elephants often provide the lifeline that other animals need in the dry bushveld by digging for water, or enlarging existing water holes. Their eating habits, which often appear destructive, simultaneously open up the forest canopy to allow young growth better access to the sunlight and make previously inaccessible vegetation more widely available to other species.
Elephants' awesome size and strength inspires respect and admiration from humans and other animals alike, although they do not abuse their power.
But it's not just that they are big; it's how elephants carry themselves that counts. When they walk, there is a remarkable grace in their movement.Elephant life in the herd is governed by a matriarch. In family and clan, all authority is vested in experienced mother elephants who demand respect and are acknowledged as the herd leaders.
Succinctly ,the elephants can be looked upon as creatures with a mix of some great qualities -
1)An Icon of Leadership
2)Masters of Survival
3)Benefactors of Cooperation
4)Inspirers of Greatness
5)Leaders of Compassion
6)Champions of Communication
7)Keepers of Wisdom
Switching on to the fierce and yet fabulous species of Dragons,I found that the
other side of the shore is green as well...
The dragon is considered to be a master of authority and a deliverer of good fortune in oriental philosophy. As a result people born in dragon years are respected and honored.
It is fond of flamboyance and color and is a beautiful creature, bubbling with energy, utterly irrepressible and extremely gifted. It is ambitious and loves to do things on a grand scale without being ostentatious and is the monarch of all he surveys.
Of course there are greater kinds of dragons with varying characteristics unlike the
Elephants.
Metal dragons are born leaders, independent, courageous, honest, powerful and determined creatures but their inflexibility, fierceness, uncompromising and forceful natures mar the other positive qualities.
Water dragons are likely to be persuasive, articulate, more intuitive, flexible and calm. They can re-evaluate a situation, think about it and take a wiser course of action.
Outspokenness, generosity, nobility and self-confidence are some of the qualities of a wood dragon. They are organized, liberal and capable of being prosperous in life but are at the same time, a bit pushy. They are open to other people's points of view.
Dragons have good leadership qualities and instinctively know how to stay on top. They are always questing for success.Boundless confidence makes dragons intrepid even in the face of insurmountable difficulties. Therefore they court success easily and reach the top.
On one hand where Dragons are supposed to be magnanimous, vibrant, powerful, charismatic, intelligent, honest, straightforward, creative, generous, warmhearted, enterprising, brave, passionate, self-sufficient, self-assured, witty, resilient and noble while on the flip side they are often inflexible, demanding, pompous, intolerant, dogmatic, proud, acerbic, ruthless, arrogant and judgmental. A dragon cannot conform to rules and regulations. His creativity is muffled by the imposition of restrictions. Their highly enthusiastic natures often leave them fatigued.
The fiery creatures are helpful by nature but, spurred by their pride they are often reluctant in receiving help from others. Dragons are, often tactless and quick-tempered and sometimes conceited. Dragons also enjoy the dubious distinction of being tyrannical and aggressive. They cannot appreciate the little things and small pleasures of life.
Well, now is the moment to reflect upon the vibrant and versatile qualities of these
two species....It amazes me that both these species portray a mix of some exceptional
qualities which makes them gigantic figures of inspiration...
Imagine if there were people with the 'elephantine' qualities....would'nt they suit
best to our present day business world and managerial environment??In another aspect,
elephantine people could also lead to better approach towards world peace and harmony.Yet another dimension would be the 'survival of the elephantines' in todays era which is full of die-hard competition and that too unhealthy!!It just makes me wonder as to how great the world could be if we had people with the spirit of an elephant and even a fraction of it's qualities...World Leaders would have a different
face and attitude if they were to possess the remarkable compassionate leadership qualities as that of the Jumbo!!We homo sapiens are just too unsatisfied and have too much of cravings...but had we been adaptive like the elephants...we would not only
survive the battle for sustainability but also would have been a lot happier...
"Wo kehte hain na hathi ki chaal mast hoti hai kyoki wo apni masti mein rehta hai"
Talking of power ...today...abuse of power is just a natural behavior...people donot even revolt against it...But hats off to the "Gigantic Mammal" ...it does'nt just have a great power but also great sense of responsibility.......The attitude of co-operation and passion, that one should not trample another for its own cause,is not yet an aspect where mankind has evolved...Infact man has become beastly...his greed
and jealousy are exponentially cultivating!!
An amusing observation is that man cannot even seen as better when compared to the counterpart of this tale-The Dragon!!Yes,we do have our own fierce notions of a dragon, but from what I found ,the dragons too have a balanced blend of positive and negative!!Atleast they are honest and loyal to their own species....On the contrary..
man has become the most acrimonious and insane specie in the present day scenario!!
I don't know why do I feel that mankind has lost its morals and humanity down the lane to 21st century!!Development not necessarily means walking over the down trodden!!I really feel that the elephants and dragons have become extinct..not just in their own specie...but also in our!!The elephant and the dragon could have balanced and refined the hierarchy of our government and society...and yet lead us to development at a better pace!!Leadership is what runs a country....and leadership just does'nt mean "to lead" or "to be the head of",it has far more to it....
Leadership requires the completion of a picture with the leader as one of its components rather than the frame alone!!And how can a leader become a part of the people if he does'nt have compassion, confidence and honesty?
